CASE STUDY: Ocean’s Dental
My first meeting with the supplier went well as we began to discuss locations, space and time frames. But then came the next meeting — a preliminary discussion on costs. “How much are you willing to spend?” they asked me. I was momentarily taken aback as I considered the meaning of the question. I have no doubt this is a common way to navigate this part of the process, but I knew I needed a fresh approach.
DHPI’s pitch was considerably different. “How can we help you build your dream office?” was the first question asked. I was sold.
DHPI went to great lengths to be involved in all aspects of the project. I was given extensive checklists to make certain nothing was forgotten. DHPI contacted my architect and spent countless hours consulting on the design and layout of the new office. Nothing was done without my OK; however DHPI was also good at knowing when not to bother me. I was still working full time on my valued patients in my existing office, and sometimes it was nice to just let the professionals at DHPI take care of little details.
My office designer, Craig Smith of Speedway Motors, was very impressed with how involved DHPI was in the project—without getting in the way of his vision for an open, yet intimate design which used water and waves to give rise to “Oceans Dental”. DHPI was extremely respectful of the particular “look” he had in mind. Dan and Mike Wacker seemed constantly fascinated by the office theme, and even helped to choose colors and woods that flowed seamlessly with the vinyl wrapped glass walls and open, neo-industrial look of the ceiling. The final result was spectacular! Patients constantly comment on the unique design of the office, along with the efficiency and friendliness of Oceans Dental. It’s been a success in every single aspect.

CASE STUDY: Broadway Dental
Building a new home is both a scary and exciting prospect—the same can be said for building a new dental office. That's why it's important to have experienced, reliable contractors and the professionals at Dental Health Products, Inc. (DHPI) are just the experts you'd want handling your dental office design and equipment installation. When DHPI took on the design of Broadway Dental Care, LLC in Chicago, Illinois, our CAD Specialist was careful to listen to Dr. Nguyen's need for a functional yet esthetically pleasing work space. The result was a modern, sophisticated office with separate reception, staff and patient areas.
DHPI also partnered with the general contractor in the installation of the cabinetry, equipment, chairs and lighting. Most of these products were supplied by Belmont. DHPI was especially helpful in this capacity because it was the first dental practice the contractor had ever built.
During the 7-month project, DHPI helped oversee each step of the project, making changes as necessary until the end result was an office for which Dr. Nguyen could be proud. Dr. Nguyen summed up his building experience with these words: "Dental Health Products, Inc. recently completed the design for my newly constructed office at Broadway Dental Care, LLC in Chicago, IL.
Throughout the process, Dental Health Products, Inc. was professional, flexible to my preferences, and on schedule. In addition, any subsequent adjustments were handled smoothly and expeditiously. Equally important, your team partnered well with the property developer, suppliers, and other contractors for a well-finished dental office. I look forward to working with your qualified team on any future projects, and would highly recommend your services to other professionals."
For DHPI's part, Equipment Rep Don Figura, stated that doing business with Dr. Nguyen was one of the "most pleasurable work experiences" that he'd ever had. There was no "haggling—as long as we met his expectations, all was fine." It seems that DHPI had no problem doing just that!

CASE STUDY: Auburn Dental Center
When David Shively decided to remodel his dental office, he immediately turned to Dental Health Products, Inc. for assistance. His family practice had grown steadily over the past 28 years and he was looking to expand his facility. David had a lengthy working relationship with Equipment Rep Eric Dunkel, so he contacted him immediately. “Eric Dunkel had been our equipment specialist for many years and we trusted his input as to the best value of equipment that met our needs,” states David.
The first step was to carefully plan the project from start to finish. David knew that it was important to start early and to use the best professionals in the remodeling process; from banker to builder to interior designer to equipment specialist. “I think that we did a great job in the preplanning stage and communicated well throughout the build out and, therefore, the problems were minimal,” David says. “Not only did Eric make us feel comfortable with our decisions, but he was instrumental in helping us procure good equipment for the right price that is backed by a reputable company.”
David is very happy with the newly remodeled Auburn Dental Center. “It is a very beautiful and functional office,” says David. “Patients rave about the amenities that we have incorporated especially the massage and heated chairs. We feel that we are better able to meet patient needs and Dental Health Products, Inc. helped us achieve that goal!”

CASE STUDY: Dental Wellness Center
“It's a day I'll never forget,” states Julie Sevenich, Executive Director of Dental Wellness Center in Green Bay, WI. It was July 14, 2010 when a tree fell on her office building and destroyed everything. “Basically we were wiped out,” says Julie. After contacting a flood recovery service to clean up the mess, Julie called Jim Roberts, COO, at Dental Health Products, Inc. (DHPI) for assistance in rebuilding her and her husband's dental practice. Jim responded with empathy and concern. Within two hours, Dan Sims, Service & Equipment Manager for DHPI, and his entire local Service Team were on the scene helping to ascertain the damage and relocate the practice to a new site during reconstruction. “DHPI was always there,” says Julie, “I never felt like you were very far away”.
John Hager, acting Equipment Rep and lead Install Tech for this project, was also instrumental in putting Julie in contact with Midmark, equipment vendor and partner of DHPI. Dan and John arranged a special meeting between Midmark and Julie during DHPI's National Sales Meeting (just days after the disaster). “The Midmark equipment is beautiful. It's gorgeous,” says Julie. “We went to that meeting (National Sales Meeting), I sat in the Elevance chair and the rest is history.” Julie ordered five Elevance chairs as well as a surgical chair, which allows Dr. Sevenich and his team to perform many types of surgeries including bone grafting and implants.
Julie outfitted the rest of her operatories with Midmark cabinetry and Gendex Imaging Products. She wanted to achieve an atmosphere of calm and relaxation, while keeping it modern and functional. This included not only furnishing the operatories but a surgical suite and a quiet space as well. In addition, Julie wanted the office to look timeless, so she chose furnishings and cabinetry that would look as good 10 to 20 years from now as it does today.
The layout and design of the office was challenging at times because of the many different phases of dental Dr. Sevenich is certified to perform and teach (treatment for sleep apnea, TMJ/Ortho, etc.). There were many requirements to take into consideration because the space not only had to be ergonomic but also aesthetically pleasing. Julie and John worked closely together during all phases of the remodel. John “did a beautiful job” moving equipment by inches where necessary to maximize space and utility. The pair developed such a close working relationship that they were at the point where they “were finishing each other's sentences,” says Julie. When asked what her favorite part of her new offices was, she answered “everything matches.” The design, colors and flow of the new space is just what she envisioned.
After nearly five months of rebuilding, Dental Wellness Center opened its doors on December 21, 2010. John Hager was on hand that day to make sure everything was operational. “That was really Service in abundance... it was completely reassuring” to have him there says Julie. The first day of business went without a hitch. Julie was happy to have Dental Wellness Center up and running and producing for patients.
Throughout the entire ordeal, “DHPI's calmness really helped me a lot. It helped me stay calm,” says Julie. “The people at DHPI made it easy despite how frightening the disaster was and how bad it could have been. The way things played out, I would highly recommend DHPI,” says Julie, “because they were really there for us. You guys did a tremendous job and I really appreciate all of the time and effort you put into the whole process!” When asked if she had any parting advice for anyone who might have to endure a similar circumstance, Julie, who now aspires to consult for other practices as a result of her experience, replied, “Call DHPI!”
